      Henriette Benson Homer (1809 - 1884) Floral Still Life Watercolor on Paper. Watercolor flower painter, Henrietta Maria Benson was Winslow Homer's mother. While growing up in Cambridge, Massachusetts she received instruction in watercolor. Throughout her life and even after her marriage she continued to paint. Along with her son, Winslow Homer, she exhibited at the Brooklyn Art Association in the 1870's. Inscribed on back of sheet "This is a watercolor painted by Winslow Homers mother, Henriette Benson Homer - Doris Homer."       A Study of Bunch Berries, watercolor on paper, unsigned, but with a card from Mrs. Curtis Marshall Hutchins verso delineating provenance (artist is Winslow Homer's mother), in the original rectangular silver stick frame with black engraving at the corners, matted and glazed, OS: 11 1/2" x 13 1/2", SS: 9" x 7" oval. Good condition.
