Dennis Hopper Los Angeles, CA, May 18, 1971 Phil Spector Signed Check to Dennis Hopper, Likely in Financing "The Last Movie" (1971), PSA Encapsulated Signed check Check no. 6316 from Phil Spector Enterprises in which the producer pays Dennis Hooper a sum of $1,500. 1p, measuring 8.25" x 3", dated May 18, 1971, Los Angeles, CA. All writing on front is in Spector's hand, signed on the payee line as "Phil Spector" and endorsed on verso as "D. Hopper". Expected bank cancellation stamps, not affecting signatures; flattened folds and minor toning throughout. Encapsulated and verified authentic by PSA/DNA, measuring 5.5" x 12.5" overall. "The Last Movie" is a 1971 metafictional drama film directed by Dennis Hopper, who also stars as a horse wrangler named after the state of Kansas. In July 1966, the New York Times reported that record producer Phil Spector would help make the movie with Hopper. Filming occurred during much of 1970, and saw rising tensions between Hopper and the movie's screenwriter, Stewart Stern.
