Charles Huard (French, 1874-1965) original wash on paper of Honore de Balzac. Image measures 14.75 in. x 13.75. Mounted to paper sheet that measures 24 in. x 18.5 in. Provenance: Estate collection of William Greenbaum, Gloucester, Massachusetts, Proprietor of William Greenbaum Fine Prints. If lot is absent of a condition report one may be requested via email. Condition report is provided as an opinion only and is no guarantee as condition can be subjective. Buyer must view photographs or scans to assist in determining condition and ask further questions if so desired. Our in-house shipping department will gladly pack and ship any item that fits into a 14x14x14 inch or 30x5x24 inch or equivalent or smaller box/folio if it is not fragile or over 25lbs. We will charge for labor to pack and process based on actual time it takes, actual cost of materials used to pack and actual shipper charges that will include insurance and signature required. We generally use USPS and Fed Ex and compare the pricing between the two. Books maximum box size will be 14x14x14 inch or equivalent and will be shipped USPS Media Mail unless otherwise requested. Charles Huard Color Lithograph of Parisian Fishermen, "Les Pecheurs a la Ligne". Huard (b. France, 1874 - 1965) was well known for painting scenes of everyday life in Paris. This print is from a portfolio in the estate of Rockport artist Grace Huntley Pugh, whose own work is also in this sale. The heavy paper is embossed in the LR corner and has a pencil portfolio notation 66 in LL corner. Signed LL within the print and Pancil signed and inscribed under the print. Unframed print measures 16 x 12 inches.

CHARLES HUARD French, 1874-1965 Two sketch books and a portfolio of prints. One dated 1916 contains approx. forty pencil and ink sketches of World War I scenes. Many annotated in French. Page size 6" x 8". Other sketch book with approx. sixty pages of pencil and ink drawings, some pages with many images. Images include faces, hands and everyday scenes, many of which are very finely executed, including fully rendered drawings of a woman playing a piano and an interior scene with a man, woman and child. Page size 8 1/2" x 11 1/2". Also includes The War Sketches of Charles Huard, a folio slipcase portfolio containing approx. twenty prints mounted on cardstock. Includes title page and table of contents. Privately printed, numbered 61/300. Signed on title page; prints also signed and numbered in pencil. Images approx. 10 1/2" x 12 1/2". Note: Huard, primarily a newspaper and book illustrator, was employed by the French government during World War I to record military life.
