Retains exhibition loan label for the Museum of Fine Arts Boston, “Sport in American Art” on verso. 22 in. x 30 in. (sight) Provenance Emanuel J. Rousuck, Director of Scott & Fowle's, New York, New York Estate of Gwynne Garbisch DcDevitt (1931-2022) McDevitt was the daughter of Colonel Edgar William and Bernice Chrysler Garbisch.       Charles S. Humphreys (English, 1818-1880) Oil on canvas. Hereford bull in landscape with waterfall and fences. Three lines of subscription "Comet's / Sire was imported from England by Col. Pendigrass of N.Y. A.D. 1848. His dam was a full blooded Hereford, raised by the Hon. Henry Clay of Kentucky; and is now the property of Aaron G. Vonsicle. / Anderson Warren Co N.J. Painted by Chas S. Humphreys. Camden N.J. 1857. Weight at 3 years old 2400 lbs". 21" x 29" s.s., in period bird's eye maple ogee molded frame with gilt liner to 26" x 34".
