S. Haseltine", "Entered according to Act of Congress A.D. 1873 by D.Appleton & Co in the Office of the Librarian of Congress, Washington.", "Engraved by S. V. Hunt" und unten "Indian Rock Narragansett", "New York, D.Appleton & Co.". Date: 19th century Description: Based on an original by William Stanley Haseltine (1835 Philadelphia - 1900 Rome). In front of the rocky Atlantic coast near Narragansett, the so-called "Indian Rock" rises in the roaring surf, next to which two small figures look out to sea and let their fishing rods hang in the water. On the horizon at sea, a few sailing ships can be made out. In the sky, the sun shines through a dense cloud fog and creates an atmospheric mood.
