          Est: $3,000 - $5,000

Hutchinson, James (1932-2023) Florida Artist Painting. Oil on Canvas - signed lower left. Executed in Palette Knife on a field of Brushwork. Seminole Indian classic, navigating the everglades in a dugout canoe. One figure stands at the rear, skillfully using a pole to propel the canoe through the tranquil waters, Hutchinson lived among the indigenous people for years as par of a commission to capture the native lifestyle on canvas. This small example is a masterful interpretation of the introduction of unnatural color in natural places- as taught to him by his brother in law Albert Backus.. The landscape is dotted with tall pine and palm trees, their reflections shimmering on the water’s surface. Above, the sky is a mesmerizing blend of peach and gray clouds. A dimensional drama of color. Canvas measures22x28 and framed to overall size of 26x32. Condition: Very Fine

Hutchinson, James F. (B. 1932) Florida Artist Painting. Oil on Canvas - signed lower right 2020 with eagle symbol. In this captivating artwork by James Hutchinson, the colorful wetlands come alive with vibrant hues. Towering trees frame the scene, their branches reaching toward the sky. Spoonbills, their pink plumage a striking contrast against the lush greenery, gracefully graze along the riverbank. But the heart of the composition lies in the foreground: a Native American Seminole burial mound. This sacred site, steeped in history and reverence, stands as a testament to the rich cultural heritage of the Seminole people. The juxtaposition of life and eternity—the bustling wetlands against the solemn mound—creates a powerful narrative within the canvas. Jumbo Canvas measures 36x48 framed to overall size of 41.5x53.5.
