A LARGE RUSSIAN SOCIALIST REALIST PAINTING OF CHAPAYEV BY ILIYIN, 1932-1934

EVGENIY VLADIMIROVICH ILIYIN (RUSSIAN 1904-1982) Chapaev Before the Battle, 1932-1934, oil on canvas, 69 x 90 in (175 x 228 cm), named, titled, dated on verso. Was showed on the 10th exhibition of Moscow artists in Philadelphia. The painting was restored in 1982. LOT NOTES Iliyin studied in Vhutein from K.N Istomin, A.A. Osmerkin. He was also a member of OMARH (1929-1931). His personal exhibitions were in 1949 and in 1971 in Moscow and in 1972 in Samara. Was exhibited in Philadelphia in 1934. State Central Museum of Contemporary History of Russia own a lot of his works.
