The painting is in very good condition. The signature ‘Osvaldo Imperiale’ can be found lower right. The canvas is signed on the back in black and inscirbed ‘Osvaldo Imperialo / La Boca’. (86.4 x 96.5 cm.) This painting depicts a port scene at La Boca, a subject matter revisited multiple times by the artist. In the foreground, men can be seen at work on the boats, while in the background several boats lie at anchor in front of a landscape of factory buildings. Signed by the artist in the lower right corner and again and signed and titled on the verso. This painting measures 34 x 38 inches. Not Framed. Craquelure visible throughout; ¼ inch hole in lower center edge; pencil sized hole in center right; no evidence of restoration or retouch. Osvaldo Imperiale (Argentine, 1913-1977) Born in Argentina in 1913, Osvaldo Imperiale was a self-taught artist. His first solo exhibition was held in 1934, and participated in the National Art Show starting in 1933. Imperiale's works have also been exhibited in Montevideo, Uruguay, Chicago, and Los Angeles.
