Depicted is a female nude from the back. The artist achieved a special effect through the application of the paint with a palette knife, creating a distinctive surface structure, which gives only a glimpse of the sitter at first sight. The darker contour lines eventually reveal a naked woman who is about to take off her red dress. The picture is signed and dated in red on the left side 'Rom Isichei '02' and further bears the incised signature 'Rom' lower right. Verso it is further inscribed, dated and titled 'Model Undressing'. The work is in very good condition. The sheet measures 75.5 x 56 cm. The framed dimensions are 84 x 64 cm. The frame shows minimal signs of wear. Rom Isichei (geb. 1966) Rom Isichei was born 1966 in Asaba, a Delta State in African Nigeria. From 1984 to 1989 he studied art with a focus on painting at the Yaba College of Technology in Lagos, from which he graduated with the higher national diploma. In the following years he worked as a manager in various advertising agencies. In 1997, he finally devoted himself entirely to painting and has participated in numerous exhibitions at home and abroad. Rom Isichei lives and works in Lagos, Nigeria.
