      Est: £100 - £200

ELIZABETH TUKE JENKINS (BRITISH 1906-1968) Threshing and Stacking signed and numbered 2/50 in pencil linocut in colours on thin Japan image 38.7 x 27.9cm framed ARR Provenance: Royal Society of Art, London, and Bourlet & Sons, Ltd., labels to frame verso Note: Elizabeth Tuke Jenkins was a painter and print-maker born in Essex. She went on to study at the Sorbonne, Paris and the Central School of Arts and Crafts, London honing her skills as a print-maker. Her linocuts are typical of early 20th century British print making, influenced strongly by cubism and vorticism, her prints use distinct line, simple form and have a great sense of movement. Whilst lesser known, Tuke Jenkins sits amongst contemporaries including Claude Flight and The Grosvenor School icons Cyril Power and Sybil Andrews. Elizabeth Tuke Jenkins often depicted wartime subjects such as refugees and labourers along side rural scenes, particularly favouring the trees from her home in Buckinghamshire.
