The colour lithographs loose inside in linen-covered original chemise and slipcase. - A few sheets slightly light-margined. Isolated small, not very noticeable brown spots and finger marks. Partly with offset. Chemise somewhat waterstained, inside minimal discolouration. The gilt title on the spine somewhat faded. Overall good. Extremely splendid, very colour-intensive impressions of the full-sized depiction. With scooped edge at the lower side. - One of 265 copies. - Published by Galerie Karl Flinker, Paris. - Printed by Mourlot. - Beautiful and magnificent works by the US artist Paul Jenkins, born in 1923 in Kansas City, Missouri, and who died in June 2012, one of the most prominent representatives of Abstract Expressionism.     Paul Jenkins (British, 1949-), 'Waterloo Cup 2005, artist's proof bronze Paul Jenkins (British, 1949-), a greyhound chasing an hare, engraved title 'Waterloo Cup 2005' and 'A/P' and initialled 'PJ' in the casting, artist's proof bronze, approximately 40cm long x 12cm high Provenance:Designed for the final Waterloo Cup at Altcar, Liverpool. The winner was presented with the number 1 by Clarissa Dickson Wright and Lindsey Knapp on the final day of the Waterloo Cup. This artist's proof was cast in the Birmingham Foundry, as one of only 6 in total cast (5 numbered and one A/P). The final meeting was held on Monday the 14th of February to Wednesday the 16th of February 2005. From 2003 Clarissa Dickson-Wright and Lindsey Knapp would meet each year at various Game Fairs, including The Waterloo Cup at Altcar, culminating in the final in 2005 and during this time became firm friends. Lindsey Knapp asked the Committee of The Waterloo Cup if they would like a trophy for this final, historical occasion, to which they agreed. On the final day both Clarissa Dickson Wright and Lindsey Knapp stood on the haycart, from which the former presented the Winner the first (number 1) of the very limited edition of five bronzes. Lindsey Knapp retained the example in this sale, the only Artist’s Proof (AP). The Waterloo Cup is the premiere coursing event and was established in 1836, being held at the Altcar Club, near Liverpool. The event was named after the Waterloo Hotel in Liverpool, where the first promoters met. The National Coursing Club was established in 1858. Condition:Ok.
