      COLLINS JESS (1923-2004) Composition au personnage Grande technique mixte à l'aquarelle et encre noire sur papier, signée Jess en bas à droite Dimensions : 57 x 41 cm Artiste visuel américain né à Long Beach, il suit sa formation à la California School of Arts. Après des rencontres avec le poète Robert Duncan et la peintre Lyn Brockway, Jess participe à de nombreuses expositions et rassemblements de poésie. Auteur de peintures, d'aquarelles et de collages, il touche thèmes tirés de la chimie, de l'alchimie, de l'occulte mais aussi de la beauté masculine faisant référence à Duncan, la relation amoureuse de toute sa vie. On lui connaît également de nombreuses peintures murales fantastiques et romantiques ou des collages élaborés à partir d'illustrations de livres anciens et de bandes dessinées. La dernière oeuvre de Jess, "Narkissos" est un dessin complexe toujours conservé au Musée d'Art Moderne de San Francisco.
