      Ferdinand Jodl (1805 Munich - 1882 ibid.): View of the Liebfrauenkirche church in Oberwesel, 19th century, Pencil Technique: Pencil on Paper Date: 19th century Description: View of the Gothic basilica in Oberwesel with the choir in the foreground and the imposing silhouette of the west tower in the background. The three-aisled basilica without transept with west tower and choir in the reductive Gothic style typical of the late Gothic period and influenced by the architecture of the mendicant orders is relatively short in length, but exceptional in its slenderness and steepness. This impression is further emphasised by the vertical format of the sheet. The architectural painter Jodl skilfully captures every detail of the imposing building.       Ferdinand Jodl (1805 München - 1882 ibid.), View of Hohenschwangau Castle, 19th century, Pencil Technique: Pencil on Paper Date: 19th century Description: View of Hohenschwangau Castle seen from the south. View of the imposing Hohenschwangau Castle in Bavaria. The history of the building dates back to the 12th century, where it was first mentioned in documents. In 1832 Crown Prince Maximilian, later King Max II, acquired this castle and rebuilt it into today's Hohenschwangau Castle. The architectural drawing was possibly a study in preparation for a later painting by JODLS in 1838.
