Lithographed by Armstrong & Co., Boston, after paintings by Joseph John. Sight size 16.25"T x 18.5"W, matted and framed under glass, overall apprx 25.25"T x 27.5"W.. Joseph John was an American artist best known for his landscapes and genre paintings. He was also the curator of the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. Condition: neither inspected out of framing. Color is good, both lightly faded. Wear and small losses to frames.

        MARK OF JOSEPH AND JOHN ANGELL, LONDON, 1833 AND 1835 Each formed as a scallop shell on three whelk feet, the valve cast and chased with dolphins, foliate scrolls and shells on a textured ground, with a central cartouche engraved with a crest, marked on reverse 6 in. (15 cm.) long 12 oz. (370 gr.) The crest is that of Botfield for Beriah Botfield, Esq. (1807-1863). (2)
