Bolton Jones Sold at Auction Prices

Landscape painter, b. 1848 - d. 1927

American-born artist Bolton Jones started his painting career as a Hudson River School painter. Painter Bolton Jones spent time in Brittany, France, in American art colonies, and he studied at Academie Julian in Paris. His work at this time was considered melancholy. He won medals for his artwork at the Paris Exposition (1889), Chicago Columbian Exposition (1893), St. Louis Exposition (1904), and the San Francisco Pan-Pacific Exposition (1915).

Later during his career, landscapes by Jones became brighter, with many spring and summer scenes such as Spring Reflections and Sun Dapples Hillside. Artist Bolton Jones achieved a 60-year exhibition record at the National Academy of Design. Some of his work hangs at Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Smithsonian American Art Museum. Brighten your walls with spring and summer landscapes for sale online.

David was a Real Estate Broker by trade and a passionate, lifelong collector of anything of quality that caught his eye. His collection of fine art, bronzes, designer decor, period furniture, mid-century furniture, designer furniture, Chinese antiques and more are among some of the finest examples available. David's knowledge, or perhaps more accurately, "his eye" for quality, was usually the most refined of anyone in the room. David purchased thousands of items over the years at auctions, estate sales, and antique stores so any additional provenance is not readily available. These treasures were truly found "in the wild," and that's how David liked it. If lot is absent of a condition report one may be requested via email.
