        Rare Limoges Mary Bacon Jones Jungle Book Set

        Est: $1,000 - $2,000

        French handpainted porcelain designed by Mary Bacon Jones (American, 1868-1924) -- "Jungle Folk" plates, 12 pieces, a rare and complete set by William Guerin, Limoges. The set includes "Kaa's Hunting," "The White Seal," "The Spring Running," "Rikki-Tikki-Tavi," "Mowgli's Brothers," "The Undertakers," "Tiger! Tiger!," "Letting in the Jungle," "Toomai of the Elephants," "The Miracle of Purum Bluegat," "The King's Ankus," and "Red Dog." The plate designs incorporate animals and words from Kipling's beloved book and are decorated in a style typical of the Arts & Crafts period. (Apparently Kipling didn't allow Jones to use "The Jungle Book" to describe them.) Each with Guerin and copyright mark to underside. Circa 1905-1910. Each plate measures 10-3/4" diameter. This item can be shipped in-house.
