Leonard Kahan Art for Sale and Sold Prices

Leonard Kahan, former owner of the L. Kahan Gallery of African Art in New York. He holds a BFA from Pratt Institute and MFA from Brooklyn College. Leonard Kahan has taught art at Brooklyn and Queens College in New York. He traveled extensively in Africa and is certified as an appraiser of African art by the Appraiser’s Association of America. In addition to presenting African art to the public he consistently sought out scholars in the field sponsoring catalogue publications and exhibitions widely: African Cross River: Art of the Nigerian-Cameroon Border Redefined, and Gestures in African Art, both by Suzanne Preston Blier, African Art of the West Atlantic Coast, by Fred Lamp, African Art from New Jersey Collections, by Marshall Mount and Dogon Cliff Dwellers: The Art of Mali’s Mountain People, by Dr. Pascal James Imperato, in addition to other titles. In 2004 he and Donna Page co-curated an African Art exhibition, Surfaces, at the S.M.A. Father African Art Museum in Tenafly, NJ. Currently he is curator of the Permanent Collection of African Art at the QCC Art Gallery / CUNY.
