He left Manitoba in 1979 to attend the Ontario College of Art in Toronto and then Guelph University. It was there that he met Tony Scherman, who introduced him to encaustic painting. His complex, often large-scale and impactful paintings are intended to serve as an inquiry into the consequences of technological representation. His recent work incorporates powerful and profound dialectics between video and painting, the digital and analog, real time, extinction and memory. He has exhibited his works in solo and group exhibitions across North America, Asia and Europe. Karasick has also been a visiting critic and lecturer at colleges, universities and art galleries in Canada, Holland, Italy, Switzerland and the United Kingdom. He currently works in London, England.
