We read that the company was co-founded by the legendary Karel Van Wijnendaele (born Torhout, 1882 and died Deinze 1961) to manufacture cycles in Torhout. He was a pioneer of Flemish sport journalism and cycling reporting in particular and was for many decades very influential in cycle race circles. Company named after the famous cyclist Marcel Buysse/Buyze (e.g. third in the Tour de France 1913, winner of the Ronde van Vlaanderen 1914 and brother of Tour de France winner Marcel Buysse) for promotional reasons. Buyze received shares of the company in return for his contribution.
