Anton Hans Karlinsky (born May 4, 1872 in Vienna , died March 19, 1945 in Rossatz ) was an Austrian landscape and portrait painter. Karlinsky studied at the Vienna Academy from 1887 to 1894, his teachers were Julius Victor Berger and Eduard Peithner von Lichtenfels . Study trips took him to Germany , Holland and Italy . He lived temporarily in an art colony in Fahrafeld , and was also a member of the cooperative of fine artists in Vienna.

As lieutenant of the reserve Karlinsky was transferred in August 1914 in the active status and drafted into the fighting troops in the First World War. The first three years of the war he stood without interruption on the Carpathian front. After that, he reported to the kuk Warspressequartier , where he was admitted to the art group in July 1917 and became active on the Russian front . In the spring and autumn of 1918 Karlinsky then worked in Albania and Montenegro .

The cloudy sky takes up nearly two-thirds of the composition and lets the viewer experience the vastness of the landscape. In the distance one can discern the silhouette of a mountain landscape. In the foreground a peasant woman is working in the field, her child is standing at the edge of the field next to a wooden cart. The grass and the flowers are rendered with small individual dabs of color. The yellow flower heads as well as the little girl's red dress set a contrasting color accents amidst the lush green fields. The painting is overall of good condition. There are some retouchings to the sky. Right at the top triangle tear, backed with a patch of canvas, which has been retouched and is hardly visible. In the center and along the top the stretcher pushes faintly through the canvas on the front. The painting is signed and dated 'Anton H Karlinsky 1910' lower right. The frame shows some abrasions here and there. The framed work measures 79.5 x 104 cm, the stretcher frame measures 66.5 x 90.5 cm. Anton Hans Karlinsky (1872-1945) Anton Hans Karlinsky studied at the Vienna Academy under Julius Victor Berger und Eduard Peithner von Lichtenfels from 1887 to 1894. After graduating, he temporarily lived in an artists' colony in Fahrafeld. Karlinsky was also a member of the artist's cooperative in Vienna. During the First World War, he was eventually employed by the art group after serving three years at the front. After the war he travelled to Germany, Holland, France, Italy and the Balkans.
