    A VIEW OF THE CASTEL GANDOLFO ON LAKE ALBANO measurements note 69.5 by 100.5 cm.; 27 3/8 by 39 1/2 in. signed and dated lower left: E.C. Karften. / f.1819 oil on canvas, unlined PROVENANCE W. Forsell (according to an inscription on the frame). NOTE Very little is known about Elizabeth Charlotte Karsten. She was taught by C.J. Fahlcranz in Stockholm, and is recorded as a landscape and architectural painter. A View of Drottningholm in Stockholm, signed and dated 1805, was recorded with F.B. Daniell, London, in 1928. She is last recorded in 1833 in Dagestan, where her husband General Kaschanoff was Head of the Topographical Korps.
