It is housed in a wooden frame, with a cream colored mat. The painting appears to be in very good condition. The frame has a few scuffs, and there is a stain to the mat upper right.         Hebrew figural imagery, signed lower right and dated 1937. Signed Mixed Media painting. Alexander Sandor Raymond Katz was born in Kassa, Hungary. Katz was a WPA muralist, illustrator and modernist painter, especially known for paintings with Jewish themes and narrative American scene works. Katz had a career primarily in Chicago. He did abstract compositions in black and white and interior theater decoration. Overall Size: 24 1/2 x 18 7/8 in. Sight Size: 16 1/2 x 11 3/8 in.

Condition B+: small replaced loss in lower right image; small repaired tears at edges; creases and minor restoration along vertical and horizontal folds. Matted and framed. This poster reflects the novelty, energy and brightness of the many electrical and neon displays which were utilized throughout the Chicago World's Fair. Born in Hungary, Katz was a prominent Jewish artist who worked extensively on WPA projects including murals, illustrations and stained glass. This is the rare small format. World of Tomorrow p. 14.
