He became acquainted with many artists, such as Vasily Polenov, Isaak Levitan and Dmitry Marten, whose works he acquired. Following the October Revolution of 1917, Hrabe and his wife left Moscow for their hometown of Slany, taking most of their collection with them. Аntonin Hrabe, un entrepreneur tchèque, vivait en Russie à la fin du XIXe siècle et possédait un magasin et une usine de matériaux d'art à Moscou ainsi qu'une galerie d'art commerciale. Il a fait la connaissance de nombreux artistes, tels que Vasily Polenov, Isaak Levitan et Dmitry Marten, dont il a acquis les oeuvres. Après la révolution d'octobre 1917, Hrabe et sa femme ont quitté Moscou pour leur ville natale de Slany, emportant avec eux la majeure partie de leur collection. Des peintures de leur collection ont été exposées au Salon de Topicuv en 1920.
