FREDERICK KEMMELMEYER (AMERICAN, CIRCA 1755-1821) FREDERICK II REVIEWING THE TROOPS AT POTSDAM Oil on paper laid on canvas: 15 x 16 in. Framed; center right initialed: FK (on the blanket saddle); after a copper engraving of Daniel Chodowieski (1726-1801), "Parade of the Army Before Frederick II at Potsdam." The composition is similar to the Frederick Kemmelmeyer, "Washington Reviewing the Western Army, at Fort Cumberland, Maryland, Winterthur Museum of Art. This work according to Nick Powers would have been completed prior to 1800 and as such from Kemmelmeyer's Baltimore period (about 1788-1802) Provenance: Whereabouts unkown, Washington D.C. 1950 to pirvate collection
