Ketcham. 35 1/4" x 27 1/4" (with frame 44 1/2" x 36 1/4"). Crazing and cracks throughout, paint loss upper center, upper left and along right edge, tears to canvas at board on verso.

Signed "S M Ketcham" in lower-left corner. Housed in gilt frame with notched detail on the perimeter. Sight: 7 1/2" H x 9 1/2" W. Framed: 10 1/2" H x 12 1/2" W. 2nd item: Watercolor landscape titled "Second point. North Beach, Santa Barbara, California," depicting a rocky Pacific Ocean cove with tree-lined point and a small sailboat near the horizon, illuminated by an early morning sky. Signed "AFD" in lower-right corner. Handwritten title with inscription reading "...Beverit vol 9, page 25. By A. F. Dunlop" with additional typed label, en verso. Gilt placard with artist's name and partial title affixed lower center of mat. Housed in a wood frame under glass with a linen mat. Sight: 4 1/4" H x 6 3/4" W. Framed: 12 1/2" H x 14 1/2" W.

Susan Merrill Ketcham (Indiana/New York/Maine; 1841-1930) Impressionist Seascape impasto oil on canvas Signed lower left. Born to a pioneering Indiana family, Susan Ketcham became a landscape and marine painter and teacher, working primarily on the East Coast. She was one of eighteen women who in 1883 founded the Art Association of Indianapolis, an entity that through her early efforts helped lead to the Indiana Museum of Art and the Herron School of Art. 7 1/2" x 9 1/2"
