      gouache on paper 40 x 45 cm Yuri Ivanovych Khymych was a Soviet and Ukrainian architect, graphic artist, and an exceptional master of architectural landscape painting. Trained as an architect, his art focused on traditional and historic architecture, including churches, monasteries, cityscapes, and landscapes. Born in Kamianets-Podilskyi and later based in Kyiv, he was an Honored Artist and Architect of Ukraine, a member of the National Union of Architects of Ukraine (since 1955), and the National Union of Artists of Ukraine (since 1962). In the late 1950s, Khymych gained recognition among art historians as one of the USSR's finest watercolorists. In 1990, he was awarded the title of Honored Artist of the Ukrainian SSR and was an honorary member of the Academy of Architecture of Ukraine.
