Adam Kilian (born February 13, 1923 in Lviv , died June 25, 2016 in Warsaw - artist, one of the leading Polish set designers cooperating with the puppet theaters .

During the Soviet deportation on the night of April 13, 1940, he was deported from Lviv and his family to Kazakhstan . His mother, Janina Kilian Stanislawska (art critic, illustrator, and literary), created a home theater of dolls, Blue Almonds , which she returned to Poland in Warsaw . He is the father of director Jaroslaw Kilar .

In the years 1945-1948 he studied at the faculty of architecture at the College of Arts and Crafts in Nottingham .

He worked as a set designer and visual director of the Lalka Theater in Warsaw . He collaborated as a graphic designer with the editorial board of the weekly for children Plomyczek , he illustrated many books for children.

He is the Knight of the Order of Smile (1980). In 1994 he was awarded the Commander's Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta by the President of the Republic of Poland Lech Walesa . On December 10, 2002, Aleksander Kwasniewski was elected from among the nominated persons and institutions by the President of the Republic of Poland as the first laureate of the President of the Republic of Poland Award for artistic creation and activity for children and adolescents . On December 22, 2008, under the Undersecretary of State in the Ministry of Culture of Tomasz Merta, he received the Gold Medal "Merited to Culture in Gloria Artis" .
