    Pen and ink on laid paper, 11 7/8 x 9 3/8 inches. Inscribed "Mr. Paul Revere," initialed "JAK" and dated "1775/ Boston" l.r. Together with a proof of a print made from the drawing with ink inscription concerning Boris Mirski and Erich S. Herrmann, New York art dealer and publisher, dated 1938.Provenance: Boris Mirski, collector and art dealer, Boston.Literature: See Elbridge Henry Goss, "The Life of Colonel Paul Revere," Vol. I, 1891, for a copy of a letter written by the art dealer Edwin L. Duveen from London regarding a portrait of Revere painted by Joseph R. [sic] Kimberly of New Haven, retouched by Gilbert Stuart in 1775, never sent to Revere, but purchased by Peter Roller of Virgina. The Kimberly painted portrait is also mentioned in Groce & Wallace, "Dictionary of Artists in America" which further cites "Art News," Oct. 15, 1947, p. 18 and "Art Quarterly," X, No. 3, 1947, p. 225.
