      • 1822 pattern, King William IV era, Infantry Officer’s Sword
        Apr. 30, 2017

1822 pattern, King William IV era, Infantry Officer’s Sword

        Est: $500 - $600

1822 pattern, King William IV era, Infantry Officer’s Sword. Features a gilded branched guard, with royal cypher & crown, with ornate scrolled back strap & folding langet. The wire bound fish skin grip is in excellent condition and matches the fantastic gilt finish overall to this nearly 200 year old sword. The 82cm long, slightly curved, piped back blade, retains faint etchings of foliate patterns with royal cypher etc. Maker marked for ‘Fisher 37 Duke St, London’. The leather and brass scabbard is in very good to fine condition, with no break in the stitching to spine, with light traces of gilding remaining to engraved brass furniture. Obviously, a superior quality made sword, that has been kept in very good condition. Overall length: 98cm.
