      Japan, ca. Edo Period. Yokoi Kinkoku (1761-1832). Portrait of the Haiku poet Yasui (1658-1743). Yasui's poem — with calligraphy by Kinkoku — can be translated as follows: Wild geese migrating they ate much of our wheat fields but oh! the sorrow of parting. Signed with painter's seal. Yasui was a pupil of Sasho. Purchased from Mathias Komor on November 3, 1978 (see photocopy of receipt). Custom box.
