      WHERE I WAS BORN

      Est: -

In his most recent works, Krištof Kintera develops his vision of the modern high-tech world and its products, which have become an integral part of this world and almost a natural part of us, our second nature. In his rendition, electronics and parts of computers, televisions and other devices transform into hybrid living organisms, whose wires and cables have become the roots and nervous system of a new natural world, creating entirely new species of plants and structures. Krištof Kintera studied under Professor Milan Knížák at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague and at the Rijksakademie van beeldende kunsten in Amsterdam. He was nominated for the Jindřich Chalupecký Award three times.

      PRIVATE PLANET

      Est: -

Asphalt, epoxy, sneakers. “Everyone has their own gravitation that pulls them towards themselves. The body ceases to be important, and suddenly only shoes are left behind. This is an attempt to depict that which is invisible, because what's important is happening in the unseen. And it's also important to not forget the Little Prince.” Krištof Kintera is one of the most distinctive contemporary Czech artists. He works in various media, with the aspects of movement, interaction and social criticism reflecting the interconnection of visual art, performance and stage design. His kinetic works have become popular not only for their intricate mechanical design, but also for their playfulness and humor. Kintera is the artist behind two atypical monuments in Prague – “Of One's Own Volition” under Nusle Bridge, dedicated to suicide victims; and “Bike to Heaven,” dedicated to Jan Bouchal, the founder of Auto*Mat, and all cyclists killed in automobile accidents in Prague. A major Kintera exhibition was held at Prague City Gallery in 2012; his works have also been shown at the Tinguely Museum in Basel (2014) and Kunsthal in Rotterdam (2015).
