Astrid Kirchherr was born in Hamburg in 1938. In 1960 she finished her studies at the fashion, textile, graphic and advertising Institute in Hamburg. In the same year she met the Beatles in a nightclub in St. Pauli and became their first professional photographer. The German magazine 'Der Stern' commissioned Kirchherr in 1964 to document the Beatles during their shoot for the video 'Yeah, Yeah, Yeah'. Her photograph of George Harrison was chosen for the album cover 'Wonderwall Music' and is known as her last published works. Her photographic documentations on the Beatles are some of the most iconic images worldwide and have been presented in countless books and magazines.
