      WILLIAM UMPLEBY KIRK (UK, 1844-1923) Portrait of Racing Yacht ''Florence, 30 ft linear rating'', gelatin silver photograph, 1896, blind-stamped lower right, from an album that belonged to the photographer. Probably taken at Cowes, Isle of Wight, the center of British yachting, and site of his studio. Kirk was the first to photograph these craft underway. In gold molded frame, under UV plexi, with two window mat, the lower identifying the boat in the photographer''s hand. OS: 17" x 19", SS: 8 3/4" x 10 3/4". Fine condition.
