Kirkby / 1825' verso, 76.5 x 61.7 cm.  Note:  The present work is a classic example of Kirkby's formal, dignified portraits, with the delicate handling of the paint allowing the artist to depict his sitters with a striking sensitivity, as also evident in his portrait of Thomas Hall Plumer in the collection of Eton College [FDA-P.66-2010].
