Ronald Klein Sold at Auction Prices

When looking at an incredible work of art one might ask, how did they come up with that idea? For Seattle sculptor Ronald Leon Klein shaping organic forms in bronze is natural, even second nature. Observe the works of Klein and you’ll find flowing lines, gentle curves, silky smooth finishes imbued with a spectrum of reflective colors, a dramatic yet calming vision. These contrasts of form, color, texture, refined shapes, cast in bronze and finished to perfection have helped Klein gain notoriety for his work in the Northwest and across the country.

studio-250Klein’s current work is not by chance, but rather it is a culmination of life experience as an artist, apprentice and fabricator. His work in metals, stone, and wood span several decades, from coast to coast.

He began by building sound fundamentals working on engineered fabrication projects, and refined his craft in sculpture as a contributor on numerous commissioned art projects.

His art studies included Dean Junior College in Franklin Mass., The University of Connecticut, in Storrs, Conn., and the Johnson Atelier Technical Institute of Sculpture in Mercerville, New Jersey. Klein’s apprenticeship at the Atelier exposed him to foundry and fabrication work of other influential artists such as; George Segal, Herk Van Tongeren, Issac Witkin and Joel Shapiro. These experiences have provided inspiration the creation of his own work.

Upon arriving in the Northwest he became a lead fabricator for Fabrication Specialties of Seattle, where he applied his talent and skill to commission art projects for artists Larry Kirkland, Claudia Fitch, James Turrell, Gerard Tsutakawa and Robert Irwin. On most days you will find Klein in his Seattle studio, nestled in an organic garden on a hilltop neighborhood minutes from downtown Seattle .

“Working in bronze allows me to achieve the form and shapes used in my sculpture. My work is primarily based on human biological and organic forms, with the intent to create those forms that fill space in a manner which warms and stimulates the spirit. My greatest joy is to develop sculpture through which others can enjoy and share a part of my feelings.”

Klein’s work has been featured in several prominent Northwest galleries and art exhibits. To see his work, visit the portfolio section of the website. But better yet, stop by the studio and see the artist and his work first hand, you’ll be welcomed with a smile and see his incredible work.
