One of his paintings, dated 1898, a little book about London with a drawing inside, he sent from London and three cards, he also sent from London to my great-grandmother, Adele Stasny. And also some photos of Adele Stasny, the mother of his daughter, Adele II, and Adele III (they all were called Adele!) and her brother Hugo, my father. What I know about him respectively found out till now:Born in Vienna on 26.07.1867, died in Evanston, Illinois on 14.01.1941.His father was Samuel Klempner, born in Prague, Czechoslovakia, he was a door-to-door salesman (peddler); his mother Rosalia, born in Stupava, Hungary, she died in her 47s on 24.11.1882 by a heart disease, her grave lies on the central cemetery in Vienna, Gate Nr. 1.From the course record book from the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna, Schillerplatz, I know, that he graduated from secondary school in autumn 1883. And she got pregnant with her daughter Adele II. But officially Ernest was never named as father; in the birth certificate is written "father unknown". And then he left Vienna around 1899 for London and never came back. My family tried to find him in the 1920s, but could not find any information about him. BIOGRAPHY: The following information is from Monika Liedler, Vienna, Austria and great granddaughter of the artist.Attached you'll find some memories from Ernest Klempner, that were handed on in my family. He visited a school of painting and at the same time he was as an observer at the Academy from 1883-85 and from 1885-1887 on an official student at the academy. During this time he was awarded a "Moritz Todesco" scholarship, which included money of 500 Gulden (guilder?) per year (this was a high amount, which means, that he was very talented, but also very poor). My great-grandmother, Adele Stasny and Ernest had a love-affair; she sat for him for his paintings. And she got pregnant with her daughter Adele II. But officially Ernest was never named as father; in the birth certificate is written "father unknown". And then he left Vienna around 1899 for London and never came back. My family tried to find him in the 1920s, but could not find any information about him. He had already left England in 1915.So there is now me, Monika, born in 1957, my two children, Michaela born in 1980 and Nikolaus, 1983, my half brother Andreas, born in 1963 and his daughter Akasha, born in 2010.
