Erich Kliefert Art for Sale at Auction

b. 1893 - d. 1994

Erich Kliefert was born in June 1893 in Berlin. From 1909 to 1910 he completed an apprenticeship in a Berlin glass painting workshop. From 1910 to 1914 he studied at the Royal Museum of Decorative Arts Berlin under Max Kutschmann, Max Geri and Emil Orlik. During the First World War he served from 1914 to 1918 as a soldier in Poland and France. From 1919 to 1921, after the end of the war, Kliefert visited the teaching institute of the Museum of Applied Arts Berlin and the State Art School Berlin. From 1921 Erich Kliefert worked as an art teacher, graphic artist and painter in Stralsund. In 1928 he undertook with Herbert Tucholski a study trip to Italy, in 1935 he painted in the main hall of Stralsund station large-scale views of his adopted home town of Stralsund and the island of Rügen. This work is still preserved today.
