      Carl Kohler (Swedish,1919-2006), "Unknown Soldier", oil on board, signed lower left. Seated in center, abstracted figure rests in slumped position, knees pulled to chest, head rests gently in right hand, left arm lies on knees, figure constructed of dark green and hints of light pink set against white background. Framed approximately 38" x 28". Sight size approximately 33.25" x 23.25". Note: Carl Kohler was a Swedish neo-Modernist painter who lived from 1919 to 2006. After WWII, Kohler’s works were mainly in the form of abstract figure drawings and paintings. In the late 1940’s and early 1950’s Kohler attended the Swedish Royal Art Academy and the Academy de la Grande in Paris, France. He later expanded his knowledge at the Swedish Royal Academy, in Canada and the United States. Kohler has exhibited many of his works in museums throughout Sweden but also the United States and Canada. To name a few; National Museum and Modern museum, Stockholm, Swedish State Portraits-collection Gripsholm Royal Castle, Swedish State collection of Swedish Modern Art Central and Voksenåsen, Cultur-Centrum, Oslo, Strindberg Museum in September 2008 - January 2009 and Stockholm Concert Hall in July 2008. The exhibitions have been held in the United States and Canada include; Washington DC Public Central library in 2009, The University of British Columbia in 2010 and the Dallas Public Central Library in 2013.

Abstracted figural painting of a female's torso, left half of board consisting of darker green background with human torso at center constructed of circles and squares in light pink and red, the arms, legs and head are being present, right half of board is painted in white with streaks of green to upper left side mixed in to give it a textured appearance.
