Matthias Köster (b. 1961)Matthias Köster was born in Detmold and studied at the Art Academy in Düsseldorf, where he was a student of Markus Lüpertz. Thanks to a DAAD scholarship, he temporarily worked at the Pratt Institute in New York. From 1992 to 1997 he was active as a teacher at the Academy of Fine Arts in Braunschweig. His works are related to the tradition of the German School of Realism, Expressionism and Italian Romanticism. Köster lives and works in Düsseldorf and Empoly, Italy.
