Gyula Konkoly Art for Sale and Sold Prices

Konkoly is an important Hungarian painter.

He studied at the Academy under the supervision of Gyula Hincz. In 1970, he went on a field trip to Italy, and then he moved to Paris. Later he worked in Sweden. He returned to Hungary in 1990.

As a student he joined László Lakner and Tibor Csernus’s group of Sur-Naturalist artists. He met with pop-art style in Vienna, which put a high influence on him. This influence is well visible on his works

He was a central figure of the underground Neo-Avant-Garde artist group, Iparterv, in the 1960s. He is one of the most important Hungarian Pop Art painters. He also made plastic objects, addressing provocative topics.

In the 1960s he designed movie posters that granted him good salary and opportunity to showcase his artistic ideas to the public, as posters were less strictly censored than paintings. In the second half of the 1960s, he designed Pop Art posters. Some of his works applied elements of abstract painting.
