      Vasily Vasilievich Konovalov, 1863-1908 the stone workers signed with a key and dated 1891 oil on canvas 52 by 140cm., 20I by 55Din. Konovalov was born in Saratov. He studied at the Imperial Academy in St. Petersburg from 1879-1882 and later became a member of the Wanderers group of painters. The offered lot was entered for and won a prize at the Society for the Encouragement of the Arts in St. Petersburg. Painters were asked to enter their works anonymously and were asked to sign with a device, hence the key.
