              Two color woodblocks after Isoda Koryusai (Japanese, 1735-1790). The first, titled Weather clearing at Owazu, was created circa 1770-1775. The second, titled Man and woman watching cranes, was created circa 1770. Each is a 19th century impression. Nicely presented in a custom frame by Tim Ward. Each sheet measures approximately 9 3/4" x 7 1/2", and each frame measures 12 3/4" x 10". Provenance: The Webster House collection.

              A simply composed scene of a family outing, depicting a woman holding one child while the other flies a kite. Koryusai Isoda ( 1735 - 1790) was born into the samurai class, but became a ronin when he abandoned his family to move to Edo and commence his artistic career. Condition: Very good.
