          Isoda Koryusai (Japanese, 1735-1790) The Poet Saigyo Admiring Mt. Fuji. Fujimi-Saigyo, Pillar Print, Hashira-e, signed. Framed. Isoda Koryusai (Japanese, 1735-1790) is particularly known his erotic shunga art and his mastery of Hashira-e, or pillar prints -narrow woodblock prints originally intended for decoration of the supporting pillars in traditional Japanese houses. The prints would have been pasted to the pillars and exposed to the elements of the Japanese household, making those that have survived very rare. Size: 27.25'' x 4.5'', 69 x 11 cm (sheet); 31.5'' x 8.5'', 80 x 22 cm (frame).
