Joseph Krausz (Born 1936) Indian Warrior Bronze Sculpture. Sculptor Joseph Krausz was born in 1936 in Hungary. He traveled to the United States in 1956 and was inspired by the works of Frederic Remington and Charles Russell. Krausz traveled extensively throughout the southwest and studied Native Americans, their culture and the wildlife of the region. His bronze sculptures are in many western art collections. Joseph Krausz (Hungarian American, born 1936). A patinated bronze sculpture titled "The Hunter" (also known as "The Winter Hunter"). The work features a primitive mountain man adorned in a red coat with pelts and a Native American beaded belt, holding a rifle, with game birds or a turkey slung over his back, walking through a snow-covered landscape in fur boots. The artist's incised signature and edition number, 12 of 26, are located in the snow bank. The sculpture is mounted on a round wood base. Accompanied with a Certificate of Authenticity, signed and dated November 1, 1996, along with literature about the artist. Dimensions: 31.5 X 17 X 17 in. Featured in this lot is a rare limited edition, American Indian hunter bronze statue by Joseph Krausz. Joseph Krausz (1936-) is a Hungarian/ American sculptor known for his Native American sculptures. He was born in Hungary and moved to the US in 1956, where he was inspired by the work of Charles Russell and Frederic Remington. Krausz studied Native American culture and the wildlife in the area, producing wonderful bronze statues. This piece depicts the unfortunate turning point of a successful hunt. The statue shows a Native American hunter on the ground with his bucking horse jumping above him and a dead deer on the horses saddle. The piece is marked across the side, reading "85 Joseph Krausz", and is marked 1/26, indicating it is part of a limited edition. The piece shows good condition and would make a great addition to any collection. The piece measures 20" tall by 14 1/2" long and 11 1/2" wide.
