Date: c. 1840 Description: The drawing probably originates from Carl Krüger's stay in Italy in the early 1940s. The trip dates directly after the end of his position as interim head of the landscape class, which he had taken over for his ill teacher Carl Blechen at the Berlin Academy.       Carl Johann Heinrich Krüger (1812 Salzwedel - 1880 Arendsee), Babelsberg Palace in the park near Potsdam, 19th century, Pencil Technique: Pencil on Paper Date: 19th century Description: A tall façade with two slender towers, reminiscent of the English Tudor style, stands out behind some trees in a park landscape. It is presumably the castle in Babelsberg Park near Potsdam. Carl Johann Heinrich Krüger studied at the Royal Academy of Arts in Berlin under the important German landscape painter Carl Blechen (1798-1840), became his master pupil and, due to illness, substituted for his teacher's classes. Between two trees and looking dreamily at the river or lake, a dog rests on the ground. Carl Johann Heinrich Krüger studied at the Royal Academy of Arts in Berlin under the important German landscape painter Carl Blechen (1798-1840), became his master pupil and, due to illness, substituted for his teacher's classes. Slightly soiled and rubbed in places. There is a grease spot in the centre right. The edges of the sheet are untrimmed. Along the left sheet edge three small punctiform damages.
