One bottle of Château D’Yquem 1937 Vintage Sauternes, Bordeaux/France Original filling quantity: 0.75 l Fill level: Into Neck Jancis Robinson (2008): 19.5/20 Neal Martin (2014): 96/100 Wine Spectator (1999): 94/100 Condition: The fill level is excellent (into neck). The capsule and label are in perfect condition. Tasting notes: Jancis Robinson, jancisrobinson.com (February 2008): 19.5/20 Golden and yellow colour, very very sweet and rich – almost rum toffee nose. Essence of crème caramel but with great structure – still chewy. Long and very fresh. Some astringency on the finish. Very mellow nose that’s almost rancio – you could almost take this for a Madeira. Lots of acidity. Very complete. Very long and great nobility and confidence. Interesting almost vegetal element. Neal Martin, The Wine Advocate #213 (February 2009): 96/100 It has a deep mahogany color. The nose gently unfurls in the glass with scents of orange rind, mandarin, honeysuckle and melted candle wax. The palate is linear and correct on the entry and certainly gives notice of an immensely powerful Yquem. Wine Spectator (May 1999): 94/100 A very good year in Sauternes--and it shows. This is a full-bodied Yquem, luscious and yummy, with caramel, pineapple, coffee, lemon, spice and botrytized dried apricot flavors sailing across the palate. Delicious from start to long, long finish. Shipping costs excl. statutory VAT and plus 2,5% (+VAT) shipping insurance.

Condition: The fill levels are excellent (into neck). The capsules and labels are in perfect condition. Tasting notes: Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate #140 (April 2002): 93/100 The color is a dense ruby with purple nuances. Once past the blockbuster bouquet of menthol, leather, black fruits, licorice, and mocha, the wine reveals medium body, extraordinary elegance, purity, and sweet, harmonious flavors with no hard edges. This is a seamless beauty of finesse, charm, and concentration. James Suckling, Wine Spectator (2010): 91/100 Love the chocolate mousse and berry aromas here. This is opulent, yet reserved, and beautiful. Full-bodied, with velvety tannins and a delicious finish. Offering so much finesse and beauty, this is a polished and gorgeous Cheval. Jancis Robinson, Jancisrobinson.com (January 2003): 18.5/20 Quite deep crimson but with definite evolution at the rim. Already a much more evolved and engaging nose than the 2000. Some leafiness. Definitely quite aromatic. Lovely minerality. Shipping costs excl. statutory VAT and plus 2,5% (+VAT) shipping insurance.

Like relaxing into a favorite chair, this is both familiar and comfortable in its mellow profile and sumptuous texture. Flavors of coffee, grilled hazelnut, citrus and brioche wrap around the palate, retaining focus thanks to the firm structure. Lovely finish. Close to its peak and should hold there for several years. Jancis Robinson, jancisrobinson.com (May 2014): 18.5/20 45% Pinot Noir. Tastes very mature. A bit older-tasting than the Blanc des Millénaires 1985. 1 Bottle 1985 Château Latour, Pauillac

                Est: €190 - €247

One bottle of Château Latour 1985 vintage Pauillac, Bordeaux/France Original filling quantity: 0.75 l Fill level: into neck Robert Parker (2000): 88/100 James Suckling (2000): 93/100 Jancis Robinson (2011): 18/20 René Gabriel (2015): 18/20 Condition: The fill level is excellent (into neck). The label and capsule are in perfect condition. Tasting notes: Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate #129 (Juni 2000): 88/100 This wine was tasted from my personal collection, following the Latour tasting. The 1985 Latour is a soft, open-knit example, without much structure, delineation, and depth. The dark ruby color displays amber at the edge. The bouquet of tobacco, black fruits, herbs, earth, and new oak is pleasant, but neither intense nor persistent. The wine is medium-bodied, with sweet fruit on the attack, but it narrows out to reveal dry tannin and herbaceous notes. James Suckling, Wine Spectator (August 2000): 93/100 Rich and ripe wine. Dark red color with an amber edge. Loads of meat, berry and tobacco character on the nose. Very rich. Full-bodied, with soft, velvety tannins and a long, ultraripe fruit finish. Still very fresh and young. Jancis Robinson, jancisrobinson.com (März 2011): 18/20 From Latour's English period. Very dark crimson still and marked by the easy sweetness of the year. Only with time in the glass did it lose a bit of focus and become a bit leathery with a hint of rusty nails, suggesting this wine is now at its peak. It reminded some of Grenache. René Gabriel, Bordeaux Total (2015): 18/20 Deutlich aufhellend Granat. Shipping costs excl. statutory VAT and plus 2,5% (+VAT) shipping insurance.

The labels and capsules are in perfect condition. Tasting notes: James Suckling, Wine Spectator (October 2002): 92/100 Fantastic red. Complex aromas of spices, tanned leather and ripe fruit follow through to a medium-bodied palate, with a dense mouthfeel and a lengthy finish. Edward Beltrami, Vinous (July 2002): 96/100 Deep garnet from core to rim. Powerful cherry and tobacco aromas meld with saddle leather and India ink. Very ripe plum and dark fruit flavors, with a suggestion of kirsch Quite dense and chewy, with palate-drying tannins, but also plush and juicy. An undercurrent of stony minerality bolsters the long finish. This massively extracted, brooding wine is riveting front to back. A superb offering from Ruffino Montalcino estate. Jancis Robinson, jancisrobinson.com (May 2003): 18/20 Superripe but, so far, appetising. Lively. Quite racy. Swallowable. Very digestible. Long exit. Good package. The labels and capsules are in perfect condition. Tasting notes: Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate #140 (April 2002): 89/100 This is a beautiful, medium to full-bodied L'Evangile with a sweet attack and mid-palate. It may merit a higher score, depending on its evolution. Jancis Robinson, jancisrobinson.com (June 2009): 17/20 Looks quite evolved. Rich and sweet and powerful. A definitely dusty overlay with some slightly rustic tannins but real integrity. This does taste like old-fashioned Pomerol! Notably less fruit-forward than modern wines. Long. Pretty impressive, though specifically for classicists. Shipping costs excl. statutory VAT and plus 2,5% (+VAT) shipping insurance.

One bottle of Château Latour 1959 vintage Pauillac, Bordeaux/France Original filling quantity: 0.75 l Fill level: upper shoulder Robert Parker (2000): 96/100 James Suckling (2000): 98/100 Jancis Robinson (2003): 20/20 René Gabriel (2013): 20/20 Estimate by Auctionata Expert: 1,600 Euro Condition: The fill level is very good (upper shoulder). The label is slightly soiled; the capsule is in perfect condition. Tasting notes: Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate #129 (June 2009): 96/100 Dark garnet with an amber edge, the 1959 Latour reveals a touch of volatile acidity in the nose, along with aromas of melted caramel, tobacco, and jammy red and black fruits. As the wine sat in the glass, notes of minerals, coffee, spice, and underbrush emerged. There is still copious tannin in the finish (I am not sure it will ever be fully resolved), but this sumptuous, complex, fragrant, super-rich Latour cuts a broad swath across the palate. James Suckling, Wine Spectator (August 2000): 98/100 Superb, but I have had an even better bottle of this wine; usually it's worth two points more. Equal in quality to the perfect 1961. Thick and rich, with berry, cherry and tobacco character, it shows layers of ripe fruit and velvety tannins that go on and on at the finish. Exciting wine. Jancis Robinson, jancisrobinson.com (May 2003): 20/20 Dark crimson/ruby. Almost as deep as the 1982. Deeper than the 1961. Very, very fresh, and yet full. Rather old-fashioned, but miraculously lively. Minerals. Wonderful, full, and fully mature impact on the palate. Slightly dry end. Wonderful wine. Shipping costs excl. statutory VAT and plus 2,5% (+VAT) shipping insurance.

Blackberry, with lots of fresh herb and meat character. Full-bodied, with velvety tannins and loads of fresh fruit and tarragon. Dill flavors on the finish. Textbook Sassicaia that grows in the mouth. Give it a little more time. Jancis Robinson, jancisrobinson.com (March 2005): 18.5/20 Sweet. pointed. Round and mellow and quite evolved. Very charming but more relaxed, loose and French than the California style and sweetness of the Ornellaia. Very appetising. Light and very Cabernet. Est: €190 - €247

One bottle of Château Mouton Rothschild 1998 vintage Pauillac, Bordeaux/France Original filling quantity: 0.75 l Fill level: into neck Robert Parker (2001): 96/100 James Suckling (2009): 91/100 Stephen Tanzer (2001): 92+/100 Jancis Robinson (2008): 17/20 René Gabriel (2014): 19/20 Estimate by Auctionata Expert: 380 Euro Condition: The fill level is excellent (into neck). The label and capsule are in perfect condition. Tasting notes: Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate #134 (April 2001): 96/100 Deep garnet-black. The nose is a little mute even given this wine’s youth, providing a moderate intensity of evolving aromas: game, earth, blackcurrant jam and a whiff of dried herbs. The medium+ bodied palate is gently styled with a medium+ level of finely grained tannins and medium+ acidity. James Suckling, Wine Spectator (Web Only, 2009): 91/100 Blackberry and violets on the nose, with hints of roses. Sweet tobacco too. Full-bodied, with a solid core of fruit and round tannins. A little tight and reserved now. Give it time. Stephen Tanzer, Vinous (Mai 2001): 92+/100 Bright ruby-red. Perfumed, sexy aromas of cassis, roasted plum, violet, pepper and exotic spices. Quite dry but densely packed, with pungent cassis, leather and mineral flavors complimented by sexy oak tones and a hint of dried herbs. Grew fuller and sweeter as it opened in the glass. Finishes with major toothcoating tannins that avoid dryness. Built for long aging. Shipping costs excl. statutory VAT and plus 2,5% (+VAT) shipping insurance.

Six bottles of Château Lafite Rothschild 1996 vintage Pauillac, Bordeaux/France Original filling quantity: 0.75 l Fill level: into neck Robert Parker (1999): 100/100 James Suckling (2007): 95/100 Stephen Tanzer (2002): 96+/100 Jancis Robinson (2011): 18.5/20 René Gabriel (2011): 20/20 Estimate by Auctionata Expert: 5,500 Euro Condition: The fill levels are excellent (into neck). The labels and capsules are in perfect condition. Tasting notes: Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate #122 (April 1999): 100/100 Tasted three times since bottling, the 1996 Lafite-Rothschild is unquestionably this renowned estate's greatest wine. […] This massive wine may be the biggest, largest-scaled Lafite I have ever tasted. It will require many years to come around […].The wine exhibits a thick-looking, ruby/purple color, and a knock-out nose of lead pencil, minerals, flowers, and black currant scents. Extremely powerful and full-bodied, with remarkable complexity for such a young wine, this huge Lafite is oozing with extract and richness, yet has managed to preserve its quintessentially elegant personality. This wine is even richer than it was prior to bottling. James Suckling, Wine Spectator (Web Only, 2007): 95/100 Gorgeous aromas of currant, berries and licorice. Full-bodied, with supersilky tannins and a long, caressing finish. Still holding back. Stephen Tanzer, Vinous (July 2002): 96+/100 Full, deep ruby, by far the darkest of these vintages. Knockout nose of great precision: cassis, black cherry, lead pencil, licorice, dried herbs and mint. Densely packed and extremely unevolved; a powerfully structured wine with uncanny precision and penetration. Finishes with powerful, firm tannins and exceptional mounting persistence. Jancis Robinson, jancisrobinson.com (February 2011): 18.5/20 Looks (and tastes) SO much much younger and more purple than the Lafite 1995. Quite aromatic, very rich and ripe. Seductive. Very smooth. Almost formless for the tannins are well in retreat. Solid stuff that still has a way to go. Slightly inky. Much younger and more angular than the 1995. But it should come out of its shell very elegantly. Est: €150 - €195

One bottle of Château Latour 1975 vintage Pauillac, Bordeaux/France Original filling quantity: 0.75 l Fill level: into neck Robert Parker (2000): 90/100 James Suckling (2000): 93/100 Jancis Robinson (2009): 18/20 René Gabriel (2013): 18/20 Estimate by Auctionata Expert: 300 Euro Condition: The fill level is excellent (into neck). The label and capsule are in perfect condition. Tasting notes: Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate #129 (Juni 2000): 90/100 The dark ruby/garnet-colored 1975 Latour offers up a dry, mineral, tobacco, stony-scented nose with red and black currants competing with cedar, spice box, and balsam wood aromas. James Suckling, Wine Spectator (August 2000): 93/100 Fascinating aromas of plums, minerals and mint, with a hint of peat. Medium- to full-bodied, with firm tannins and a long finish. Plenty of life left in it. Jancis Robinson, jancisrobinson.com (März 2009): 18/20 Magnum. Still very dark. This vintage that seemed so exceptionally tough in its youth has indeed come right in the end. It's still firm and dense with that mineral 'sucking on a stone' character and a hint of yeast extract. Correct, appetising. Hint of tarriness. Very firm, very Latour. There will surely always be a strong framework on this wine. Eight magnum bottles of W. & J. Graham’s Vintage Port 2000 vintage Portugal Original filling quantity: 1.5 l Fill level: into neck Robert Parker (2002): 94/100 James Suckling (2003): 98/100 Stephen Tanzer (2003): 94/100 Jancis Robinson (2011): 18.5/20 Estimate by Auctionata Expert: 1,100 Euro Condition: The fill levels are excellent (into neck). The labels and capsules are in perfect condition. Tasting notes: Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate #143 (October 2002): 94/100 Grapy, unformed, black raspberry liqueur and licorice-infused cassis notes leap from the glass of this opaque purple-colored wine. Sweet, plush, rich, and accessible, it is a forward, lush, concentrated effort that should drink well for two decades. James Suckling, Wine Spectator (May 2003): 98/100 Smells like freshly picked orchids, with loads of ripe, clean fruit. Full-bodied, medium sweet and very powerful and racy. It lasts for minutes on your palate. Yet there's a balance and class to this young Vintage Port. This is the greatest glass of Graham I have ever tasted, young or old. Stephen Tanzer, Vinous (January 2003): 94/100 Saturated black-ruby. Superripe, bottomless nose of black fruits, mocha, bitter chocolate and flowers. Hugely sweet, dense and rich. A port of outstanding opulence and creamy texture; deceptively easy to taste. Substantial, sweet, spreading tannins are buried under a wave of fruit. Extremely long, fruit-driven finish. Jancis Robinson, jancisrobinson.com (November 2011): 18.5/20 Dark crimson with a slightly weak rim. Rich, slightly volatile, evolved nose. Polished and dense and explosive. Interesting contrast with Noval 2000. More of a Fonseca style in its opulence. Lots of fun! Great richness. I would love to discover this in fact comes from somewhere other than Portugal! Complete. I would not be surprised to see the rating on this wine improve as this youthful Grange continues to evolve. Harvey Steiman, Wine Spectator (November 1999): 96/100 A magnificent edifice of a wine, elegant and refined in structure but dripping with flavor--a virtual cascade of plum, black cherry, blackberry, anise, pepper and exotic spices that lingers on the finish; this just doesn't quit. William Robinson born 1936 SUMMER LANDSCAPE NUMINBAH, 2001 oil on linen SIGNED signed and dated lower right: William Robinson 2001 DIMENSIONS 122.0 x 183.0 cm PROVENANCE Australian Galleries, Melbourne (label attached verso) Private collection, Melbourne EXHIBITED William Robinson: Recent Paintings, Australian Galleries, Sydney, 13 August - 7 September 2002; Melbourne, 24 September - 25 October 2002, cat. 66 (illus. in exhibition catalogue) ESSAY Summer Landscape Numinbahdepicts the bushland and creek in the Numinbah area of Queensland's Springbrook National Park. Springbrook has long been one of the artist's favourite destinations reappearing in his paintings throughout the 1990s and early 2000s. Robinson first came to discover the remarkable landscape when he lived in the village of Beechmont at the edge of the Springbrook rainforest. Even after moving to the coastal town of Kingscliff, New South Wales in 1995, Robinson continued to visit the National Park, so awed was he by its serenity and its might. Like most of Robinson's portrayals of Springbrook, our composition is not painted with a conventional linear perspective. There is no logical direction in which to orient our view. Instead, we are swept up in the mellifluous flow of the revolving, multi-dimensional panorama in which everything comes together and everything draws apart. Trees appear upside down in the skyline and the world curls around as if seen through a fish-eye lens. For Robinson, the purpose of this approach to composition is to immerse the viewer completely within the setting. He explains, 'I do not like the landscape to be static like something held in a frame to be viewed as something quite apart... My intention is always to draw the observer into the picture.'1Like much of the artist's work, the brevity of human life is here measured against and within the infinite possibilities of the natural world. Summer Landscape Numinbah submerges the viewer completely in the minutiae and the compelling magnitude of the setting. Entwined, writhing trees protrude from every angle along the mountainside, their trunks charcoal black or bone white. The dark creek wends its way through the thick bushland. If we look closely within the dense green canopy we can glimpse a parrot, or maybe a cicada. Robinson evokes all the sensory experiences; the smells of the dense foliage, the dampness of the air, the peculiar bird calls. What we can't see of the rainforest and its inhabitants is suggested. What makes our painting unique is the inclusion of a curious expanse of foliage at the centre of the composition which bears a striking resemblance to a pair of human lungs. Robinson has always been fascinated by the immense power of natural forces, the complex struggle between elements and the omnipotence of the natural world. Looking at this pair of leafy-green lungs we are reminded that this landscape is so far from a static thing. It is an ever-evolving place, a sanctuary of sorts, and we can almost hear the meditative sound of the mountains breathing. 1. Robinson, cited in Klepac, L.
