Zum Künstler: 1968-1972 Studium der Bildhauerei an der Bremer Hochschule für Gestaltung bei Gerhart Schreiter. 1972 eröffnete Kühn ein Atelier in Lilienthal. Kinetische Lichtobjekte sind 1973 im Leopold-Hoesch-Museum in Düren und im Kunstverein Unna ausgestellt. Ab 1976 wandte sich Volker Kühn dem Zeichnen und der Druckgrafik zu. Seit 1986 entwickelt er miniaturisierte, figürliche, dreidimensionale Plastiken, die in vitrinenartige Rahmen eingearbeitet sind. About the artist: 1968-1972 studied sculpture at the Bremen College of Design with Gerhart Schreiter. In 1972 Kühn opened a studio in Lilienthal. Kinetic light objects were exhibited in 1973 at the Leopold-Hoesch-Museum in Düren and at the Kunstverein Unna. From 1976 Volker Kühn turned to drawing and printmaking. Since 1986 he has been developing miniaturised, figurative, three-dimensional sculptures that are incorporated into vitrine-like frames. They depict everyday themes that humorously surprise the viewer through satirical alienation.
