          UTAGAWA KUNIMARU (1793-1829) Edo period (1615-1868), early 19th century Two shikishiban surimono prints from an untitled series of Oharame (peasant women from the village of Ohara, Kyoto) for Taiko-gawa (Drum Group): the first Sono ichi (Number one), depicting a seated Oharame leaning against an ox while breastfeeding a child, with a poem by Kotobuki Suenaga, 21.5cm x 18.9cm (8 7/16in x 7 7/16in); the second Sono ni (Number two), depicting an Oharame resting on a bundle of firewood beside an ox, her left hand holding a plum branch, with a poem by Dotei Tsukimaru, 21.8cm x 18.9cm (8 9/16in x 7 7/16in), both signed Honcho Kunimaru hitsu with a seal Honcho; both mounted on card.
