      A portrait miniature of Queen Luisa Ulrika of Sweden

      Finely painted portrait of the Queen seated in a gilt embroidered throne, dressed in a white silk gown with lace trimmings, diamond jewellery, and an ermine trimmed cloak. Inscribed to the reverse "La Reine Louise Ulrique" and with remnants of a varnish seal. Princess Luise Ulrike of Prussia (Berlin 1720 - 1782 Schloss Svartsjö/Sweden), one of the younger sisters of King Friedrich II, married the Swedish crown prince Adolf Friedrich from the house of Holstein-Gottorp, who became King of Sweden in 1751. The motif of this portrait is based on a full-figure representative portrait by Lafrensen which is housed in the National Museum in Stockholm. There are also several lists of Swedish regents attributed to Lafrensen the Elder showing half-figure portraits of the Swedish queen based on the same motif. [Prussian]
