      att. Lam Qua (1801-1860), Chinese Export Portrait oil on canvas of a young woman arranging her hair after the original work by Claude-Marie Dubufe (1790-1864), the work was published in engraving form in 1829 and such an engraving was likely taken to the Lam Qua Studio to have a version painted from it, possibly by a student of the artist. The canvas is signed en verso in ink "Fomasa Lanches China" and written in pencil below "Painted by an old (?) at this Chin(?) Island". Later cove-molded gilt composition frame. SS 14.5 x 10 in.; DOA 18.5 x 14 in. Private collection, Richmond, VA Craquelure surface.
